Butterfly Valves

 

Butterfly valves are used when space is limited. 

Unlike gate valves, butterfly valves can be used to restrict or regulate flow  in fully open and fully closed positions.

 Butterfly valves have less pressure loss than gate valves. Throttle actuators control the flow of gas or liquid by means of a disk that rotates about a diametrical axis within a tube, or  two semicircular plates mounted on a common spindle, allowing flow in only one direction. Butterfly valves are more cost-effective and lighter than gate valves in most sizes and materials, making them suitable for applications with large pipe diameters.
